Shiloh Vines & Wines Background

The Wine Decade:  1997-2007 Shiloh Vines & Wines, a small home winegrowing and winemaking operation located in Napa Valley along with knowledge gained through formal education courses at Napa Valley College (coupled with a  2004 job at Ravenswood Winery), provided research and experiential underpinnings for Shiloh Estate LLC as well as articles contained in the SV& W Articles section.

The winegrowing operation, sold after the 2006 harvest, comprised two nano-vineyards:

(1) Approximately 50 Pinot noir vines (Clone 115 on 5C rootstock) and 50 Merlot vines (Clone 4 on 101-14 rootstock) planted in May 1998 and

(2) Approximately 160 Pinot noir vines (field blend of Clones 115, 667, and 777 all on 101-14 rootstock) planted in March 2002.

Winemaking was accomplished (at the nearby Fox Creek Winery) for Vintages 2001 through 2006 Pinot noir and Merlot.  The last harvest was the 2006 vintage with the final bottling September 2007.

Shiloh Estate LLC was formed during this 10-year period to develop decision making tools for the wine industry and operated for a couple of years .  Alpha and Beta versions of Vineyard Planner were developed using Microsoft's Visual Basic 6.0.  When Microsoft abandoned Visual Basic 6.0 in favor of VisualBasic.net, Vineyard Planner and Shiloh Estate LLC were also abandoned .
